"42% of Breast Cancers do not need to
be treated."
42% of breast cancers
detected since the BreastScreen program was introduced in Australia
would not have been life-threatening if left untreated, research
suggests.
Writing in the journal Cancer Causes Control 2009
(online), the authors said the "overdiagnosis of invasive breast cancer
attributable to mammography screening appears to be
substantial".
The response of the cancer specialists states that the improved
diagnostic screens have improved the Breast cancer survival rates
by 35%.
Please tell me if I missing something
here.
35 - 42 = minus
7.
Does this mean that despite the fact that 42%
of women did not need to be treated, it only improved survival
rates by 35%? What happened to the 7% of women who did not
need to be treated and are not included in the so-called overall
improvement rate?
So are the cancer specialists really saying that their
treatments are really not effective?
